Hello,

I have used the Hugin panoramic stitcher for a while. I like the program and I would need it, but I am getting a bit desperate, because since recently I keep running into trouble...

In the version of Hugin I had installed, I had problems with emblend (I think) - Hugin would always save the number of loaded pictures edited but separately instead of stitching them (I posted an earlier message on this problem).
To solve this, I uninstalled Hugin and tried to reinstall it on my 64bit Windows7 platform. From the versions offered on Sourceforge, I tried Hugin-python64bit, couldn't install it, because the system said it lacked the python-somewhat, and I don't know what this is. Then I downloaded Hugin64bit 7zip, but that, when extracted, gave me no clue how to install it... so I tried the normal Hugin 64bit, this installed, but gave me an error message - some component which had PTGui and batch or likewise in its name couldn't get installed - Hugin did get installed, but didn't work. The program got hung up when the preview started: a nearly empty console showed up, and I had to start the task manager to shut down Hugin.

Finally, I installed the 32bit version; it got installed alright, but its preview gets hung up every time I try to stitch something.

Any help possible?

I always just grab the windows installer version when I upgrade (and I've been using Hugin on and off for quite some time.)

Don't bother with the Python versions...they're only there if you are writing custom python scripts for integration / automation from other tools.

Here's the link to the version I used most recently:
Download Hugin from SourceForge.net

Since it sounds like your Hugin setup is a bit messed up now, be sure to un-install / delete any previous version of Hugin you have laying around. This version is packaged as a Windows installer, so it pretty much just works. I've never had a problem with Hugin, from NT 4.0 through XP Pro to W7 Pro x64.

As for your original problem (I did a search and didn't see your post on that one): There is a checkbox in the Stitcher tab of Hugin, "Panorama Outputs: Exposure corrected low dynamic range", make sure that one is checked. If you leave any of the "Remapped Images" boxes checked, it will keep the individual remapped images as well, instead of cleaning them up after blending.

Best of luck, sorry I can't be more helpful.

Just tried again; I get the following error message when installing Hugin 64 bit (read the last line):

Extracting Hugin package...
Output folder: C:\Program Files\Hugin
Create folder: C:\Program Files\Hugin\bin
Create folder: C:\Program Files\Hugin\share
Output folder: C:\Program Files\Hugin\bin
Can't write: C:\Program Files\Hugin\bin\PTBatcherGUI.exe

Is the user account you're using an Administrator account? Windows 7 is more restrictive about what/who can get written into Program Files. If you're not on an administrator account, that might explain the install fail.

I've specified my own install directory, instead of into "Program Files", and have never had a permissions problem, but my user account is an administrator account.
