I just wanted to say how inspirational I find the APUG Galleries!

I was browsing the Galleries during lunch at work today and just wanted to compliment those that have posted such consistently high quality and inspirational work.
For instance today there is a shot titled 'Old Memories' by Guillaume Zuili. What an exceptional, feeling provoking image. This is flanked by some equally emotional work by Jose A Martinez from his Morgue series, disturbing..yes!, but superb photography none the less.

Then there's work from Sly, Stephan Frizza, most excellent.

Also Thomas Bertilsson's 'Day out in Como' series which are just wonderful, surrounded by Jersey Vic's Lith work.

Awesome work everyone and VERY inspirational. Well done to all involved.

Yes, indeed, there has been some truly great work lately (or for what matters, most of the time I've been in APUG), inspiring, beautiful and oh so, pleasurable to look at! There are so really good photographers in here. So much, that when somebody asks me who are my favorite photographers, I always reply "sure, I admire Bresson and Sudek and Salgado and all the great known photographers, but there are others, little known, or unknown, with photographs that have touched me equally or even more so", which of course includes APUG members.
I haven't told you, many of you, how much I admire your work, how good of artists I think you are and how much your work has inspired me.
I should. Many times I am just without words, or just in a rush, or decide not to comment for one reason or another.
Many photographs deserve a lot more attention than they get. More views. More comments.

All you members out there, I ask one thing of you: when you see a photograph you like, (or don't for that matter) make a comment. Don't let it go away, invite more people to see, enjoy and get inspired by. A comment is not just your words but a means of giving attention to an artwork that deserves it.

I agree. At a time when my digital friends nodding in dismay at my dedication, particularly black and white, the galleries have been a terrific anchor and guide. They are helping me find my direction, not that I want to copy anyone else, but they do help me reason out what it is I like about the medium. They have given me both the confidence and freedom to stretch out. Now, if it will just cool off a bit in Arizona so I can go out, and if I can find some energy after spending the day with 31 pre-teens, I will go out and put my thoughts into action.

In the meantime, I will keep the dream of a good condition affordable Speed Graphic on my list of dreams to fulfill.

Phill, Ari, I feel the same and thank you for putting this out so well. I opened my eyes in photography on BW film and manual cameras (small and MF) however in recent years I was carried away for a short period of time by the digital craziness. The work of many APUG members so original and so full of energy kept me on the right track which is to do something yourself, craft something with your heart, your mind, your hands and a box fitted with a lens; away from memory chips, computers, monitors and anything that has the tendency to change our life from organic to synthetic.
