I just realized that this German company has changed their website.
Before, they were indicating that they are designing new products (other than photo materials) to be manufactured by multilayer coating. For this idea of transfer from photochemistry into other fields they received a price for being an innovative start up company.
By the postings by Fotoimpex we learned that this company returned to the photographic field due to working for them by making prototypes for their new papers and finally will even be doing actual production after acquiring and moving a large ex-Agfa production coating machine.
Still it was unclear whether this would just be a one-time deviation to their roots.
Now on their new website the photographic field is no longer a historic reminiscence, but rather shows up as first service before others. They offer coating facilities for film and paper as well as the design of them.
Did they ever say, that they do not want to coat film and paper again? As far as I understood, they were looking for new business - nice that there seems to be lots of business for them in their core competency again. Its an relatively easy way for them to earn money - aquiring new customers for new services can be costly.
Andreas,
at least I understood their business concept as turning the backs to photography and trying something new, though using the knowledge gathered so far.
If there really will be clients... At least Agfa and IlfordPhoto are also offering coating services. However, they have to protect their own product range.
Perhaps I should better have posted this in the lounge.
