I am about to start exploring the Bromoil printing process and so I am gathering supplies.
I was wondering what types of inks/paints are known to work best? It is my understanding that Lithographic inks work well, but I don't know that for sure. Will oil paints work too?
Based on your experience, what can you recommend for me to try and explore?
I can only speak of failure but it was a failure of ink, I believe. Oil paint does not work. Etching ink does not work. Litho ink is much stiffer and less oily.
CanI really be sure that the failure was not user error? No, but I was a printmaker earlier in life and have painted in oils for over 40 years, so I'm pretty sure the best way to do it is to go with Litho ink.
