I'm trying to print on Inkpress Backlight Film using an Epson 3880. When I print on the glossy side using the Glossy Photo Paper settings I get a smeary mess. I've done a lot of searches and it sounds like this should work. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Yes. The prints on the matte side are not smeary but they are very dull.

if you have the glossy side facing the viewer, does it matter? These are backlit, right?

This film is opaque, a milky white. So when I print on the matte side I can see the image through the paper, but not well enough to be useful.

I will try contacting them, thanks. I like your gray cat avatar.

Use matte side of the paper but with the image reversed since you'll be viewing from the glossy side. The key is to use matte black ink for the deepest black for the matte side.
