Any Infrared photographers. Would be interested in developing and printing info or exposing info. I shoot Kodak 35mm film.

Pats,

I use HIE with a B+W 093 filter, TTL meter set at 1250 to 1600, and develop in Diafine or DiLuxol Vitesse. I suspect that the best meter settings for TTL use need to be adjusted by trial-and-error because different meters will respond to the filter differently. I modified a Pentax digital spotmeter for IR use, but rarely use it.

There was a previous APUG thread about developing HIE (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Best,
Helen

I shoot HIE with just a "plain" red 25 filter. My two major observations have been that:

1- with the red 25, you have more than enough visible light to not bother with focus adjustments

2 - if there's a lot of vegetation, I need to really, really pull my development. Vegetation in bright sunlight is _so_ IR reflective that I my highlights all but explode in my +1 stop bracket shots, and they're pretty hot at the indicated exposure, too. this is even with my tendency to rate HIE at 800 with lots of vegetation.

I have used Kodak IR film at 400asa developed in Rodinal 1:25 @ 20c for 9 minutes and got ok results.

Two books that I have and found to be very useful are Infra-Red Photography: A Complete Workshop by Hugh Milson and Advanced Infrared Photography Handbook by Laurie White Hayball. Lots of content around capture and film development.

Regards, Art.
