In need of light meter. My Sekonic L-328 just bit the dust.

Does anyone have a spare, as in extremely cheap, light meter? I'm shooting with a first generation Mamiyaflex. I've used my best judgement for metering during the past couple of days. I've yet to develop the shots to see how accurate they are. That'll happen tonight when I get back home. The wife and I are visiting her parents, showing off our newborn. It's our first. She's extremely cute. Anyways, I'd like to protect myself in situations like this. I suppose during our recent move the light meter decided it was time to go. The L-328 was the perfect meter for me. I paid $8 for it at a thrift store. Maybe that's why I only got a few months of use out of it. So, if you have something just laying around, I would definitely put it to good use. Thanks so much.

I have a Gossen Luna-Pro F with a 15/7.5 attachment. I like it a whole lot.

I have pocket light meter app and it works very well. I highly recommend it.

That said, I use a Digisix and Luna Pro Digital. Prefer both over a l-208 I used to have.

Since you already have a Sekonic it would be an easy transition, has both a spot and incident. If you don't use strobes, then you can get the L-758D which is less money.

you can find them for a lot less on ebay, a lot of people seem to buy them new, use them a few times, never really take advantage of them because they aren't real photographers or just use their digitals to chince, and end up selling them for about $300 which is what I got mine for I believe.

The light meter app is great if you're in a pinch. I used a Dejur Dual Professional for a long time and recently got a Gossen Digipro F. Both great meters, very accurate.

I got one of these from a thrift store. It doesn't use batteries. It uses a selenium cell. The accuracy can be dodge though.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I think for now I'll download a couple of apps and see how well they work. I have an Android phone, so Luxi is out for me, but oh well. I will eventually get another Sekonic. I was very pleased with the results I got from the meter I had. It's very strange to me that it just stopped working one day, but I suppose that's how it goes. This break from taking a meter to most locations will give me a chance to work on my mental light meter. Thanks again.

I found out this strategy by chance: When I was looking for the best price for a Sekonic L-758 from a reputable dealer, I was also searching amazon.com.

After several days/weeks of searching amazon, they sent me a $50 off discount! And that's when nobody was discounting the L-758. Yes, I bought it.

Letting amazon know (indirectly) what you are looking for worked for me. Your mileage may vary.

I will 2nd the L-208, my wife got me one for last Christmas, it is just as accurate as my older L-428. The body is plastic so not as robust but with care should give good service. Others may know more.

I have a fairly extensive collection of light meters, but the one that always gets used in the Ikophot. No battery, very accurate, small and simple to use.

I am rather content with my little Gossen Digisix. It gives incident and 30 deg. reflected metering.

Funny part is a local photog had this idea bout 2 years ago, had the cad drawings and tooling set up, AND has a patent on this same idea. But couldn't go through with it due to an illness. I think I should let him know about this project, he could use the money after suing for patent infringement.

Me, too. I use the Ikophot T, which takes the common 9-volt battery that lasts a long, long time.
