Impressed with Portra 400NC when scanning.....

I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself and stuff but I wanted a discussion on Portra 400NC in particular cos I was blown away by its fine grain and looking like a 100asa film.....rated at 320 EI I love the palette and the look of the film.....

.......does anyone else share the love and be willing to compare and prsent notes?

I'm wondering whether this film will actually become my first choice over my beloved 160NC

I think i like this film as well, the color are fine for general purpose and some outdoor and portraits, and with that ISO 400 i can shoot day and evening when the light is going down, i can push it but for most of the day time it is really nice film, too bad the first roll of 400NC i didn't have good enough results, and the second roll i did better but i got disappointed when i found that the roll has light leak or problem, i was so careful to load and take the film out but it seems the problem came somewhere.

I posted few shots of that film on one thread here, but my scanning is not good enough yet, and the results also seems not interested of subjects, but at the end i will agree with you that this film is nice and the grain is fine enough, and i will use it again and again when needed for sure.

perhaps its just me, but so far I've not found any negative to be significantly different to another for scanning. I do in general find that Fuji negs do nice for 'nature' colours and Kodak ones seem to do nicer skin tones, but as to scanning they just need slightly different tweaks in hue after appropriate leveling

I too enjoy it. But, I prefer the VC version. I too, burn it at 320. Wonderful results.

Portra is exquisite on skin tones compared to the crap skin tones i sometimes get with digital cameras

Shoot RAW and profile your camera. I use Xrite Colorchecker Passport and get great color with Canon and Nikon cameras. It does make a difference. If you shoot JPG then photograph a truely neutral white balance card or grey card before each session in each unique lighting situation.

But Portra is nice.
