A friend of mine recently bought out a retired photographers equipment, and among them was a imacon ixpress digital back, after googling the backs I've identified it as the 96c.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to operate this thing. The back fits perfectly onto my 500c, with the battery in the hard drive case the back fires up, and I can navigate the menus. The issue is my computer doesn't have a firewire port, and so I got a firewire to usb adapter. But connecting the back while on to my computer results in nothing, the computer doesn't seem to recognize that there's a connection.

Does anyone here have any experience using this device?

Yeah but some of us dabble in d*****l and know about computers......as this appears to not be a camera issue.

What operating system are you running and is your firewire supported?

Also some d*****l cameras need to have a mode or setting enabled before they can be connected to the PC

I understand bill but this is honestly the only place I thought I could get help, since this back only works with a camera meant for analog use. I figured the guys here have more experience with a 50 year old 500c than people on other boards, so there's a higher likelihood someone would have experience with a back.

Thanks for the quick reply. I played around with the menus and couldn't find any specific setting or option to switch from camera to computer type connection. I'm running windows 7. No idea if firewire is supported, that might actually be the issue. I'll dig more into that thanks!
