I'm looking for a foot pedal faucet

The kind they have in the doctor's office. It would make a nice accessory to my new darkroom sink. New, they are $$$$$$. Anyone know where I can get one used?
Maybe all I need is the valve setup itself?

Have you checked out a restaurant supply business? You can usually find some that deal in used equipment. Most major cities have one or more.

Why not make one? All you need is an isolating valve, a spring and a few pieces of metal.

hmmm......I'll look into it.
I found a foot pedal valve set on ebay but it's still kinda pricey and I don't know (without holding it in my hand) what else I'd need to complete it.

Fairly pricey, as these are commercial quality and very well made, but you can often find their stuff on ebay relatively cheaply. Look in the Industrial lab equipment or commercial plumbing sections (or just search for "chicago faucet").

The website should show all the stuff you'd need.

Ebay has some foot pedal valves for kitchen use at what I think are reasonable prices.

that's the one I'm looking at. I asked them for more info/pics but no response yet.

Look out -- the valve is NO: Normally Open. The water flows when the power to the valve is off. You can wire it up so pressing the footswitch turns the power off to the valve, but be sure to turn the water off manually when leaving the darkroom.

You could use the powered valve on the water inlet to a washing machine. These are normally closed.

I have the perfect foot switch to go with that, it only provides power as long as the pedal is depressed.
