i'm considering selling, but how much is it worth?

Hi everybody..

It's been a long time since i've been on this forum, and today is because i'm considering selling some of my old leica gear.

I was wondering if any one knows what it's worth in Europe? I know this site Dead Link Removed but it's american prices, and i'm not sure they are worth that much in europe, or even worth more?

what i have is a 35mm f/1.4 ASPH and a 21mm f/2.8 non ASPH, and a 90mm f/2.0 non ASPH.

I wouldn't want to guess at the price, but I'd think in Europe, they are worth more, I buy as much gear from the states as possible as it's so much cheaper than the UK and the rest of Europe. Check out pricing on rangefinderforum.com classifieds for the high end of the market, and ebay.com for the low end. If you don't mind not getting top dollar, but want an easy life, you could sell to a dealer...

The problem with valuation is that when you sell there are more factors involved than the gear itself. For example, some people may be prepared to pay more to get their stuff from a dealer who offers a 12 month guarantee. Conversely, people may be hesitant to go big on ebay where the transaction is essentially 'as is' and the seller is unknown. On the APUG classifieds I'd wager that people would be happier paying top whack for stuff from a long time and trusted member than they would from someone with one post who joined yesterday. Add to this the EU/USA disparities already mentioned and guessing at valuation is just that - a guess. And I didn't even mention how the lunar cycle affects things!

You could try Ffordes in the UK who can sell it on commission for you. A look through their web site will give you an idea of prices.

Look at meister Camera in Hamburg and Berlin:

They are Leica specialists, have an excellent reputation and give a guarantee, so that *should* be an indication of the maximum value of your equipment.

Though, for whatever mad reasons, people will sometimes pay more on the auction site.

Be aware that as others have said UK/European prices/values are often much higher than in the US, that can be by as much as 50%. It's because camera prices from new have been much lower in the US for many years.

Sell privately dealers can't pay you that much they have to add a decent a mark up and cover any guarantee they would give. Or go down the commission route.

Well the price for the 35 ASPH on the site you shown is more or less the same here (but well France is not the right place to make big deals on camera gears...).

As others said the market can vary quite a lot, some cameras I bought 3 years ago, serviced and used are now 1/2 price for some (even serviced and fully working in mint aesthetical condition) or twice for others with no real logical explanation...
