Was shooting today on a busy street - many people curious about why I was shooting on the street - and what those photos were for.
I actually had some nice engaging conversations. I think, it just needs us, as photographers to be engaging enough and be on tiptoes often.

I have one thing to say about the Bill Cunningham documentary, which is mentioned in the beginning of this thread.

If you listen closely during one of scenes where Bill is photographing two young black girls, you will hear one of them say she is going to shove that camera up Bill's *ss. He just smiles and keeps shooting, and then moves away

So, I'm sure Bill has faced his share of abuse over the years. I haven't found him social and engaging, he is out there doing a job for the Times and doesn't mess around. Perhaps he chats up the people who dress for him, for there certainly are people who dress for Bill.
