I use a combination of Ilford HP5 and XP2 film in 35mm. The side of the box says that the max storage temp of XP2 is 20c, and I store all my film in the fridge, which is a lot cooler than 20C, however, if I carry a spare roll of film around with me, as well as the roll in the camera, then this film could be above 20c for over a week.

Is storage of this film at over 20c for over a week likely to cause damage, or do I have to keep it warm for a lot longer than that for a noticeable effect?

I've been using XP-films for over 20 years. Don't worry for an instant.

Film is designed to be quite stable at the same temperatures we live in. It is only for "long term storage" that refrigeration is suggested, such as purchasing a years supply in advance, etc.

Dear Geoff,

No need to worry, the only thing I always say is do not store film in a glovebox of a car, it gets real warm....
