Hi, the concentrate states 7 day shelf life when mixed. I store mine in an air tight bottle after use so does anyone know how long this extends the typical 7 days? thanks!

Does it say 7 days after mixed and USED? I think
it wise to assume that Ilford has a full well sealed
bottle of UNused in mind. Do they say otherwise?

Likely that washaid depends upon sodium sulfite for
it's hypo clearing. That stuff oxidizes to the sulfate
which apparently is not very effective as an hca. I
wonder why sodium carbonate, which is stable
and recommended by Agfa, is not more used.

Here is a suggestion. Dump that washaid into a
liter of ammonium thiosulfate concentrate, add a
1/4 cup of washing soda and enough water to
ALMOST dissolve everything and call it SF-1.
The mix, I think, will be quite alkaline and
have a good keeping property.

Ole, though, might object. Dan

That above suggestion was made in JEST. I do
NOT recommend the above mix be attempted.
With ventilation probably safe to do but then
again the suggestion was in JEST. Dan

Is there a way of testing the efficacy of HCA?

No easy way.

HCA should not be saved and reused. It picks up bits of gelatin and grows bacteria which can attack the emulsion of subsequent prints.
