Ilford ULF 2020?

I'm seeing notices from stores in Europe announcing the annual ULF film cutting
how come we are not hearing about this??
HELP!

Peter the announcement is on the IlfordPhoto site and all the details of the participating U.S. dealers are there. It may be that Ilford assumes that most ULF users will just get in touch with their dealers as in the past so it serves no purpose to simply give out a one line announcement here on Photrio.

My impression is that and its only my impression as opposed to fact, Photrio now occupies a much less prominent position as a site for Ilford than we did in say Simon Galley's day. The new Ilford is setting a somewhat new agenda than the former Ilford/Harman. Both of us have moved on

Contact Ilford and ask the question why Ilford hasn't announced it on Photrio and tell us what they say. If I were an LF user I'd be tempted to ask the same question. That way you may get a feel for signs, if there are any, of the new relationship Ilford wants with Photrio and our relative importance to Its future .

Well, their social media platforms just made the official announcement an hour ago, so I'm going with "No one here at the site has posted the announcement yet", other than someone doing so right now with this post?

Photrio now seems like a very marginal platform for the current iteration of ILFORD.

I agree Tom. I hope we have covered Peter's point about no announcement on Photrio so I hope this isn't construed as diverting the thread but I see a certain irony in what is happening in the analogue world which is that Ilford brings out the next generation of darkroom paper when we on Photrio may be the last users of the darkroom in terms of printing and yet we are of much less importance to Ilford than we once were.

On the other hand it may be that Pemberstone has already seen the end of darkroom printing and has concluded that MG V will be the last of paper/ darkroom innovations. It may even be that some of the work to bring MGV to fruition was begun before Pemberstone took over so it decided to let it go ahead. I scratch my head trying to work out how we and a few other non Photrio diehards can keep darkroom printing alive.

Our demographic, the crazy, 60+, already has 400 lbs of film and paper in a freezer, and wants the return of Kodachrome and Panatomic-X, (in pack film)

simply put buy Denise Ross book and start making your own paper like I do; although I eschew the darkroom for the sun and make POP prints...
I'm in control now!

Photrio is a marginal platform full stop. Most of us are already steeped in film photography and know things like when the Ilford ULF usually take place and we look for it. Ilford are better off informing people on facebook and Instragram.

FWIW I started following Ilford Photo on Facebook a few months ago and they post some interesting articles and info - though mostly of interest to people who haven't been using their products for decades. They probably know that in order to grow their business they need to interact with the people relatively new to film. And they're doing it successfully. They're quite interactive on Facebook.

Succinctly put and I believe that even if the "old" management had still owned the business things would have still have changed in much the same way. If a company is to thrive then it has to attract and cater for its new users. As you say, Photrio does not come under that category
