Seems no one is selling this, not online or at my "local" photo store. Had planned to buy two Promo Packs (one for me and one for #2 child) and ten 120 rolls, but now I think I'll use the money to buy Oriental Seagull papers instead.

Maybe next year, maybe not.

I had to inform my local lab about it. Seems they didn't know.

Once I told them, they looked it up on the Ilford website and ordered some in through their local distributor. I was told they'd have 6 promo kits in this week.

I couldn't find the page can you post the link to the promo? I am very interested.

The promo is mentioned on ilfordphoto.com in the info re: the SFX competition and in other product news. the following is from Shutterbug:

"Ilford SFX 200 has been reintroduced by Ilford PHOTO after an absence from the company's film catalog, and is being launched with a special value promotional pack of three rolls of 35mm ILFORD SFX 200 plus an ILFORD Cokin 'P' filter."

I was going to buy the SFX if I could get the promopacks. The cost of three $8 rolls of 35mmx36 film AND a $45 filter bought separately (twice, because I wanted to give one to my younger daughter), and ten rolls of $10 each 120 film is too much for me to bother with.

I really don't need the film, just wanted it to play with. Figured three rolls of 35mm and five rolls of 120 would last me all year (the daughter would receive half of what I bought, as I said). But I certainly need the paper that money can buy, and I don't care much for Ilford's warmtone. Hence, the Oriental.

I've bought other promos of Ilford before, from B&H and Adorama. I'm certainly surprised this one isn't available.

ps - my local store seemed to know about the promo packs, just didn't have any for sale.

B&H usually carries the Ilford promo packs (like the MGIV with some free rolls of HP5+). I suspect they just haven't made it into stock yet.

Yah, if you look at Freestyle, it's going in and out of stock on their site. I've received just my 35mm rolls, not my 120 rolls.

I suspect that they need a little time to flow the promo packs and film through everybody's production pipeline.

If you need a film with extended-red sensitivity like SFX, you might want to try Rollei's Infra-red film that really isn't infra-red (it's only effective up through 720 nm, so it isn't a true infra-red film). That film has been out for a while now & the supply at the moment seems to be a bit more reliable than the SFX's.

I have the 120, 35mm and 3-packs on order. Wynet emailed me on Friday and said they had shipped so I expect to have stock later this week or next week.
I haven't set the price yet... waiting to see the final costs.

Thanks for the heads up, Rob. I'll be keeping watch.

Just picked mine up today. Can't wait to give it a try.

They've got 5 more kits left if anyone needs one right now. The place I got it was Image Works in Lawrence Kansas.

I paid $42.99 plus tax. Anyone interested might consider giving them a call...
(785) 865-0777 and ask for Gina. Really nice folks. They have a couple of bricks of 120 there that I saw too.

I got my first roll of SFX hanging in the bathroom drying.

I've never used it before. How did you rate it and what did you use to process it? Are you pleased with the result?

I rated it at EI 200 using the TTL Filter for #12 and #25 filters.... which likely resulted in a certain amount of overexposure. I used an effective EI of 12 with the #89 filter.

I developed it with HC-110 Dil B as per the data sheet.

It looks good so far, but I haven't properly sorted through it. I'll post on my blog before the end of the weekend.

Well, I emailed Freestyle, Adorama, and B&H asking if they expected to offer the SFX promo pack ("three 35mm rolls with a Cokin P size SFX filter").

Freestyle said: "We will have the film available, but not the Cokin filters. We are not a Cokin Filter Dealer."

B&H said: "Sorry, B&H has not received the NEW product your inquiring after, and its not available for sale yet. Its not even in our database, yet. The company has not provided a date of arrival. Please try again soon. Sorry, no pre-orders at this time."

Adorama hasn't replied over the past week.

Seems Harman-Ilford and their NA distributor could make use of a marketing director.

I'd almost convinced myself I didn't need any of this film, then Gene M posts some very nice pics on photo.net. I almost wish I hadn't seen them.

I just called 'em up and ordered some. She said to tell you thanks, Joe.

If you look at Wynit's web site, you will see that photographic film isn't exactly a major segment of their business.
I ran into this headlong a couple of weeks ago after ordering some Ilford 4x5 at my LCS. After it FINALLY arrived, the shop apologized and said that with their old sales rep orders would commonly arrive in a day or two, now it's a couple of days before the order even goes into the system.

I just happened to drop by there today to get some film processed and Gina mentioned she shipped out some to you. She was pleased that her store has it before B+H!!:D

Glad it worked out. Image Works really goes out of their way for their customers.

Since Gina had success with getting SFX so quick, I put a bug in her ear about seeing if they could get Ilfochrome paper and chemistry... If successful, that would be spectacular!

Hi, would you know of any reliable online shop that is willing to ship the SFX promo pack to South-East Asia?
Tried all the big online shops like B&H, Calumet, they don't seem to carry it

I suspect either a severe lack of effort to market this product, or the desire for vendors to increase their profit margin by selling the parts of the pack off individually -- That would be about $70 for the filter ($45) and three rolls of 135mm ($24), vice $45 for the promo pack.

How did I come to be so cynical and jaded?

K.

Short up-date.
The film came in.... the orders went out.

I've re-ordered from Wynit. The second order of promo packs should be in this week. 120 is on back order with Wynit. 35mm I have in stock.

I've also contacted b+w regarding their infrared filters and have ordered some for stock... for those who don't want to bother with the Cokin drop-in style filter.

I realize it's not for everyone, but it sure is fun.

I sent Rob a check with my order on Friday. Imagine having to order from Canada! Take note, B&H, Adorama, and Freestyle (not to mention my local photo store). You've lost some of my business, eh?
