Ilford RC VC Paper

Quick question: When one looks at various sites preparing to purchase Ilford paper one sees some paper specified as D1, and others as .44, etc.....do the numbers refer to the weight of the paper, or some other attribute? Simon? Thanks.

Sorry...just went to the Ilford site...the numbers refer to the surface...Ed
