Ilford post card paper

I bought a box of Ilford 10x15cm post card paper. Could someone who have used it before tell me if the text on the back should be so faint as it is.
On the box it shows the same text in much darker color. Is this just for the box and the back should be faint?

I think the faint text is to suggest where you should be writing, and be faint enough it does not screw up the OCR postal routing machines.

It's faint. Light gray. Like the light gray accents on APUG.

I see that it is pretty faint too. I wish it was slightly darker sometimes.

It is indeed designed to be light grey.....why ?

We have to print the 'postcard reverse' after the paper if finished into the actual size, and it must be printed in the quickest possible time, as it is printed ( obviously ) under reduced safelight conditions, it is a very special ink that drys incredibly fast so as we do not get carry over and can pack within the designated QC time for paper in the finishing department.

OK. I just wanted to know if it was intended as the picture on the package is much darker. But I like the paper and the idea. Keep it up.

While we're on postcard printed paper, does anyone knows of a source of 6x4 inkjet paper back-printed as a postcard?

You could print the back on yourself?


What if we ran our 4x6 prints through the inkjet printer to put a post-card setup on the back. That way we could make it as dark or as light as we wanted. Has anyone ever printed on the back of a developed black and white print?

Why don't we all just accept the Ilford product as the awesome product it is? There are reasons for it being printed the way it is as was said by Simon earlier. I think we should all be thankful Ilford still makes post card paper long after everyone else stopped making it. Standing ovation from me Ilford bravo for keeping this product going!!!

Absolutely. I even made a single size easel to print on this paper. I still have an almost full box I must use up though.

Ilford Postcard stock has been great for APUG. I think the Postcard Exchange is the easiest way to get to see a lot of real prints from a good number of active APUG members. Even if they're not intended as fine prints or mounted and matted, and they can get a bit mangled in transit, they're much more representative of the participants' actual work than the scans in the online galleries, and it's more fun, in my opinion, to have real postcards arriving in the mail all the time. Some participants just print on other paper and cut it to size, of course, and we've occasionally had alt-process prints in the Postcard Exchange, but Ilford Postcard stock really makes it convenient for a lot of people to participate.

I really love the postcard paper...especially as quite a few come back to me personally from the APUG community, at least one every day ( my personal favourite this year is Tim Gray from the USA : Shot of guy in park in the rain - superb ) and we do put them all up in the reception corridor ! The ultimate in recycling...

I really get the true feeling of the worldwide nature of our community... most from the US of A, although pro rata I get more from Australia than anywhere else...Canada second.

Hopefully I will now get one from Finland....
