Dear All,

Just an opportunity to say a big thank you for making the return of SFX 200 a great success, due almost entirely to APUG we also coated and finished 120product as well, I am pleased to say that the week before last we had to coat miniature and 120 again, having just seen that its passed its QC release it prompted me to say a big thank you to all.

It's a success because this film is a success. IR effect is beautiful, and in my opinion, SFX is a very good portrait film, without IR filter. The only problem: a little bit too expensive.

Does anyone have examples of SFX through a B+W 091 red or similar? Now that Kodak are killing off HIE I will be moving to all Ilford.

Despite having 60 rolls frozen, I've been buying bricks of the current stuff whenever I order film, just to help make sure it stays in production. By far my favorite 120 film.

Trying SFX has been on my todo list since I heard it was coming back - too much going on earlier this year and weeks without a darkroom while moving house have delayed things a bit.

Thank to you and the others at Ilford for giving me the opportunity Simon!

I have 1 camera dedicated to IR after taping an Ilford IR filter between the film rails.Where can I purchase some SFX at a reasonable cost. (I live on Canada's east coast)

Will buy a batch next spring, hope to see a price drop though. I've got a large project ahead of me!

Can't speak for the non Kodak IR films but I suspect they are all more expensive than non IR. Certainly Kodak HIE was always more expensive than Ilford. At least at all the stockists I have ever found in the U.K.

If you work out the price per frame it's pretty reasonable and without the SFX or equivalent IR filter it acts like a normal film so you can mix and match on the same roll.

Is SFX comparable with the new Rollei IR 400?
My concern with SFX is that it will not give as good an IR effect as the HIE or Efke (Maco) IR products.
I like to use an IR film specifically for the IR effect.
Thank you

Not equivalent, but somewherein between. With SFX I can get black skies, black water and white clouds with a red #25 filter. With the others, I need to use a 87 or 89 filter, but I can get the "wood" effect with foliage. SFX is more sensitive at lower wavelengths, but less sensitive at higher wavelengths than Efke.

It is not far different from the first Rollei (enhanced red sensitivity), but I can't speak to the "new" Rollei.

$9 for a 120 roll? That's like $0.75 a shot for 6x6, bit more for 67. That's practically free!

If you use the SFX without the filter for portraits what iso are you starting at?

What am I thinking my 092 filter just came in this week for my new Rollei.... now I want to shoot without it. I haven't even tried it on the camera yet.

I've been stocking the Efke IR820 in 120 and also have the Agfa IR 400 in stock. I even have a roll or two for sale of Efke 820 IR in 127 for the baby rollei.

Thanks David. I was unaware a keyword search was availble in the gallery! Must have been too busy looking at people's work!
