Ilford P3 is available in B&H!!

I was checking B&H website color paper developers when I found an option to print from slides and found these 2 Ilford P3 part B & C. I thought that Ilford stopped manufacturing these long time ago along with Ilfochrome no?

Good catch! Sadly, it is quite easy to substitute the Ilfochrome first developer, but so far no credible formula for Ilfochrome dye bleach was posted. There are some should/would/could formulas around for dye bleach, but nothing with a proven track record.

I wonder what's the purpose actually since there's no positive paper in production anymore..

Sounds like leftovers to me, maybe that's the pair of concentrates with the latest expiration date. I would assume that Ilfochrome aficionados bought all the dye bleach they could get their hands on and left the overpriced B&W developer (aka Ilfochrome first developer) in the shelves.

And they probably can't ship it anyway. Where's Part A? P3 chem keeps well. I sure hope so. I've still got a complete kit left - far more than
I need to process my last box of 20x24 paper still in the freezer, if it's still any good at all.

I'd be curious about the paper. Ilfochrome didn't keep well even refrigerated. Any of it out there now even frozen I'd be skeptical of. Hope yours works well Drew.

I expect some highlight crossover, or at least an accelerated rate of crossover once the paper is thawed. But exactly where this goes has a lot to do with the specific chromes I might choose to print; and a single box won't allow too many images anyway, even if I find time from my other printing priorities. Unused chem would have to go to the hazmat disposal site across town, of course, although the average Calif. house
painter would probably drink it. If the paper turns out useless, the heavy polyester sheet itself is excellent for making neg carrier masks, view camera ground glass masks, etc. It's much better for this kind of application than Fujiflex sheet.

Now there's an answer to the question that has haunted me for years. What good is this useless pile of Ilfochrome in my freezer? And actually, OMG, I was looking for some poly sheets for something yesterday and it never occurred to me that I already have some, lol.

Eh, really?

The developer is just black and white print developer, the fixer is just fixer. The bleach has a very caustic Ph but can be neutralized by dumping baking soda into it until dumping more doesn't cause any more fizzing. At least that was my understanding of hobbyist quantities of it, the problem coming in labs that used very large amounts.

Roger, dye bleach contains a bleach accelerator which can be toxic and/or carcinogen depending on which exact compound is used.

I used to bring my used bleach to my local treatment plant and dump it in their tanks-with permission of course.
