Ilford Mutltigrade 400HS and 400HL VC enlarger light sources.

Anybody still using one these 400HS or 400HL VC light sources? If so, how do the newer Ilford VC papers work with them. I bought a Leitz IC enlarger and it came equipped with a 400HS setup. Can you still get parts for these things? John W

I am using the 4x5 versions of that equipment, and it works very well with the current Ilford RC VC papers.

I don't know about parts though.

Thanks Matt. I guess I'll have to just try it to see how it works. The parts I need(switch bulbs and plug) aren't important so I'll try some printing this weekend. I had a Ilford Multigrade 500 head on a 4x5 enlarger years ago and liked it, but I was more into graded papers then and sold the unit. The Ilford 500 units use blue/green combination for contrast grading, which is not the same as the Ilford 400 units. That's the reason I ask. John W

Actually, the first versions of the 5400 series equipment also used magenta/yellow.

Thanks again Matt. Yes, I have a copy of the manual and mine also came with the foot switch. I have the Leitz Ic w/ 400HS head ready to roll. I packed my Saunder's LPL6700 enlarger away for now and will use the Leitz for 35mm and my Omega D2V for everything else. If all goes well with the Ic/ 400HS system I'm thinking about making my own 400HL head for the Omega D2V and running it off the same 400C control panel as the Leitz Ic. I can get the filters from Edmund's Scientific and the bulbs are easy to find. We'll see how it goes. John W
