ILFORD MG 500S power supply - AC inlet filter replacement?

Preamble:
I have two sets of MG500 equipment of slightly different specification. The head and power supply configuration (plus RH Designs timer) that I'm currently using is working fine, having replaced the power supply that came with my De Vere 504, after the original unit stopped working; I understand from the previous owner this failed '500S' was repaired by Odyssey Sales at some expense, many years ago, and prior to my ownership from 2010.

Question:
Sorting through my MG500 gear I decided to look inside the non working supply and found no real signs of damage from a quick visual inspection, asside from a rather unhealthy looking AC inlet filter. I'm thinking of replacing the filter as ILFORD thankfully specified a standard component.

Have those that use the MG500 system come across any particular failure points with the supply?

In the spirit of double checking I assembled what I thought was the dead power supply with the head and a CPM500 controller and found the whole assembly worked perfectly... my memory had been that the unit would not even switch on or at least supply power, so I'm not sure without further investigation what might have been wrong.

I have received a private message suggesting my reference to the component may be ambiguous. See attached photo.

I offered to fix a 500 Ilford head and controller for a friend. He dropped it off and I plugged it in an checked everything and it worked. I did apply de-oxit to all the connectors and re-connected everything under the assumption he had a poor connection somewhere. As far as I know he is still using it, so it must have been dirty connectors.

There are certainly a large number of connections in the power supply. I also noticed that the side panels weren't fully screwed down / aligned with the main body of the 500S so I've now done that, should help to reduce dust or dirt entry.
