Ilford ID11 Strange particles

Hi

Yesterday i went into the lab again to develop film. I had to mix up some new ID11 developer and when i opened the first envelope (Part A) i noticed that it had some grey particles in it. Well, I just thought that they had to change something so didnt think of it and poured it into the water. The problem were that the particles never dissolved. I took two images with my phone.

I want to point out the plastic cylinders were clean, i rinsed it out several time, so the particals is not dust. I saw these particles in the Part A envelope before i poured them in.

My question is if anyone have seen this before? What could it be?

I really love the ID11 developer and I wont stop using it (well, as long as i get developer without the unsolved particles..)

Did your envelop had a pinhole opening that let air into it?

You're not supposed to let the dog play with the bags and punch holes in them! Smiles!

Try it out and see if it works on a roll of film you could afford to lose. Most of mine are in the, "afford to lose" category!

But it looks like some contamination either oxygen or moisture or both got into the bag. And I used to be half in the bag every once in a while!

Not all is lost as ID-11 is still available at many places!

No, the envelope were flat, nothing special with them. I didnt see any pinholes or anything like that. I saved the box and there is no chemicals in the box, so nothing has leaked out, so assume nothing has leaked in either.

Interesting thoughts, but I cant imagine who moisture could create these particles. I picked out two roles (which is just random shoots, the films I wanted to develop where from a trip to the mid-west usa, Kansas, Manhattan... but I wait with them and pick up some more ID11) and the negatives looks good. I haven't check them on the lightbox yet, but i will do that asap to see if I can see any spots from the particles.

One good thing living in Switzerland is the availability to film/darkroom products, I would say 1/2 of the photo stores are digital and the other half is analog/darkroom.

Still, the question is what those particles can be...

I have used ID11 for many years and have never noticed particles. Try pouring the solution through a coffee filter. That will probably remove them.

Same here, my standard developer, and also never seen them before. I cant see any date on the box, so I have no clue when it was produced. There is a number, but i guess that is some kind of ilford batch number.

Well, i used 1/2 litre and discarded the other half, I am just curious what it can be.

40 degree C (104), same as always, I will check my thermometer, but I believe its working
