Dear Arigram and MHV,

I do not think we will bother registration of 'IHST' as a trade mark.........

Dear Aristotelis,

I will check DAMKALIDES orders

Simon.

Dear Simon,

Although I have friends that work there, I can say that nowadays this importer does not care at all about Silver Based photography (I think I already told you that). So, I would be surprised if they imported the new stuff you make (they insist not wanting to deal with LF film !!!).

I guess we'll have to order it from another country, as usual...

I have used my "IHST" for the first time this week and it appears (without exotic testing of some kind) to be interchangeable with the Kodak on my Ilford FB papers. I got mine from Big Camera Workshops..EC

I just got a bottle from Freestyle and I can't seem to find the print capacity of this. I looked on the Ilford website, and the information is the same as the paper that came with the selenium. Any ideas?

Have no idea about the print capacity but know that Selenium toner last a long time, i will let the tone tell me when it is time to make some new.

I had a chance to use the Ilford/Harman Selenium toner the other night and actually did a comparison with KRST. Both dilluted 1:9 Did not find any difference on the Ilford FB WT paper but perhaps a slight difference on the JandC Nuance. KRST seems to tone a little bit more light brownish than the Harman and perhaps a slightly less pronounced midt tone effect which i like. Also did a test on Forte Polywarmtone FB Mat surface and there was no difference. Everything was toned for 2.5 minutes and the temperature was 21C.

That's kind of what I thought. I don't tone for a lot of color change, I basically tone for permanence and to get the green tones back to grey/brown/black-ish-ness. It's good to hear that there isn't a lot of difference between what I'm used to(krst) and the Ilford. If everything else is very similar, I wonder if it isn't too far of a reach to assume that the Ilford's capacity is about the same as the krst. Thanks, Jan.

If it helps, I've been on the same bottle of KRST at 1:9 for 5 months now. I added a bit more stock the other day to speed up the process but its still going pretty strong. I think you just keep using it until it doesn't tone anymore!

My first go with the Ilford toner worked well for me. This weekend I'll give it another go with some warmtone FB paper.

I have some fb prints that I did several months ago. Is it possible to re-wash and tone them at this late date?

I believe it is. I've toned several days after printing with no noticed ill effects. I have also read of others re-washing and toning prints several months after initial processing. Maybe there are others out there with evidence to the contrary? I can't recall any.
