Is it available in Greece? Because I think they are not carrying the latest Ilford Harman products including the toned paper developers.

I'm excited! Thanks for letting us know, Simon. I've just gotten into toning, as well as starting to use the MGIV standard and wt papers. From what I understand, this selenium toner is supposed to be quicker working on these papers than Kodak's toner. That's good news!

Mine should arrive from Big Camera Workshops this week, but since this is my first selenium toner I will have nothing to compare it to!

Hi Simon:

I will order some the next time I place an order with Freestyle. I didn't realize that Ilford made Se toner until now.

BTW I use Ilford film and paper almost exclusively--not only because I like the products, but because of Ilford's support for film photographers.

I'm hoping to try the Harmon Ilford seleium, but it'll be next month before I buy any chemistry.

Dear Tom,

It is obviously our own formulation, from our own chemists and it is designed to work optimally with our own papers ( but will obviously work with all other mon papers ). Independents who have done initial product assessment say tone looks great and it has a slightly higher activity level than others on the market.

One very important thing occurs to me: we need an acronym.

IHST anyone?

You know, I just fear that someone with mild dyslexia would invert some letters and create an acronym we wouldn't really like...

You know, it can have a positive meaning as in
"this stuff is really *the* IHST!"

"With the new IHST from Ilford, my prints look like some really cool IHST!"

"We now have some pretty hot IHST in stores for you guys, get in line!"

"Be careful not to drop IHST on your clothes or hands. Wash thoroughly with cold water if that is the case."

"Please avoid dumping IHST in your toilet or regular water supply to reduce toxic contamination."

"IHST vapors can have an annoying odour. It is recommended to work in a well-ventilated area."

"Some people have used exhausted IHST as fertilizer for their plants. We do not know yet the real consequences. Do not use for vegetables."

"If you want to have a browner tone than is possible with IHST, then use a Polysulfide toner, or some other shit"

Oups!

I talked to my local supplier who stocks some Ilford staff. If you want special order ( I have not seen any IHST on the shelf)that's not on the shelf it takes about six months to get in. So you ether wait or pay higher price to be shipped in.

For your info. Saw Les McLean demonstrate this at Focus 2006. It does tone MGIV RC to colour change, which is something I have great difficulty doing with any other selenium toner unless well haeted and the paper bleached before hand.
It is on my shopping list.
Regards Paul.
