Hi everybody:

I'm in LA where Freestyle tells me that graded Galerie paper has been discontinued in 16x20 and 20x24 since 2006. Meanwhile, I can find it for sale on the B&H and Adorama websites. Is this an issue with freestyle's supplier, or are the other two stores selling very old paper I don't want to buy?

At the least, does anyone have good contact at Ilford I can reach out to and get the real story??

Thanks,
Jarin

...Just when I start using a staining developer and calibrate my negs to Galerie grade 3. Just haven't needed to print bigger than 11x14 until now...

"Start a Conversation" with their representatives here on APUG: Harman Tech Service

Freestyle seems to be cutting back on their paper inventory, which is disappointing, especially given that they advertise a "commitment" to traditional B&W analog photography. I'm already sourcing Slavich from somewhere else now that they no longer carry it. Now if they don't want to carry the full range of Ilford papers in all the sizes...

Sad.

Thanks everybody. From your information, the 16x20 still seems to be made - maybe Freestyle isn't so reliable for information after all. Still, I need to be sure supplies elsewhere are fresh and not old remaining stock. How does one "Start a Conversation?" I'm not totally familiar with all the features on APUG...

How does one "Start a Conversation?
Up at the top right there is a link that says "Inbox"

Click on that and you will see "Start A New Conversation"

Click on that, fill in Harman Tech Service in the "Partcipants" box, give it a title, start typing your question in the box below and finish by clicking the "Start a Conversation" at the bottom.

Jarin, you need to change supplier. It may well be that Freestyle aren't prepared to order sufficient Galerie Gd 3 in those sizes. MOQ usually means Minimum Order Quantity as Ilford do list it as a Non Stock item which means it's not discontinued, I can buy Gd 3 Galerie 120x16 and 24x20 easily here in the UK from at least 3 suppliers and it's fresh stock.

You might be far better asking Freestyle why they don't stock it while other suppliers do.

Hi everybody - for everyone's info, here was Ilford's reply:

"Dear Jarin,

You can find the full list of available items here http://www.ilfordphoto.com/products/productlist.asp?n=20&t=Photographic+Papers
(Ignore the Matt these items are no longer available)

We still manufacture and ship regularly to US Galerie FB Gd 3 in 16x20 (Item: 1628164) and 20x24in (Item: 1168026) and they are not discontinued. I'll mention your comments to Mike Bain who looks after our US sales operation.
I suggest you order elsewhere for now, but I'll see if we can clear this up for you.

Kind regards,
Neil."

Simon Galley (Ilford/Harman) posted here on APUG that papers were good for at least 7 years, provided storage was OK. However in practice they'll be fine for many years longer.

Thanks Jarin. Think I'll buy a pack to compare against my old stuff.
