I got a box of film today, some Ilford Ortho Plus, with (what I assume is) a batchnumber 81DGG1C01/04-1 and the date inscribed below is Mar[ch] 2006. I can't find any other date of any sort. Does it mean I got sent a box with film that is outdated by almost a year?

Mar 2006 is pretty clear. You did indeed.

It's probably still good, but if it was sold to you as fresh film, you have a legitimate issue.

If you got it really cheap, just use it, but freeze what you're not using so it doesn't deteriorate.

Well, fried buggers on a long stick! I am being robbed blind in that case - it comes right from the shelves of the official Ilford distributor in Sweden, sold as fresh and at full price (85 euro/ 25 sheets). Probably works okay, but not at that price.
