hum hum, in my humble opinion they'll never re-open ....not enough money ...too much debts .

Do you actually know how much money they have, or how much debt they are carrying? Or is this just unfounded idle speculation on your part?

Seriously, if you make such statements you better be prepared to back them up with some supporting evidence.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed they won't be re-opening on the 15th, but beyond what they posted on their web site, I know nothing about the reasons behind the delay - and I'm reasonably sure you don't either.

Sean, do you not have any sympathy at all for the customer here? I am surprised at your attitude. I thought you and this site were all about supporting us remaining film aficionados? Or is it only the film vendors/advertisers you are interested in?

All the best to you in 2007.

Absolutely, lets make things up and pound on one of the best, and most supportive vendors we have ever had while they are down. Of course they don't want to be open at all, and its aimed at each one of our puny little worlds with personal vehemence. I'm sure they are sitting on an island some where sipping cocktails in the sun, and laughing it up at this very moment. Oh, and thanks for the drive by, troll.

Where did Sean show a lack of sympathy for anyone's customers? He never said the delay in re-opeing at J&C was a good thing. He never said the customers shouldn't be upset about it.

All he did was agree with JBrunner that baseless speculation about J&C's financial situation is just that, baseless speculation. Nobody posting here knows ANYTHING about J&C's finances. To speculate that the company lacks cash and has too much debt and will never re-open is totally irresponsible. Such unfounded rumor mongering does absolutely nothing to help J&C or their customers.

I think we should stop bashing J&C, accept the fact that they will be out of business for 6 months, and use this thread for it's intended purpose...... that is, discussing the details of the latest Ilford ULF film purchase. One vendor, The View Camera Store, has indicated they are checking, and will report back.

Folks, I was refering to the original poster in this thread and whether sean had any sympathy for him. Sean was very quick to jump to the defence of J&C yet seemed to ignore the issue I thought the thread was actually about. i.e. the availability of film. Surely something that concerns all of us here. Just because we are all film lovers does not mean we forgo the right to hold vendors to account. Perhaps Agfa would still be around if scrutiny had been greater. Who knows.

Happy New Year to all of you!

Sorry, that wasn't at all clear from your previous post.

Sean was very quick to jump to the defence of J&C

He waited over three days and 27 posts before he said anything. How is that "very quick to jump to the defence of J&C"?

yet seemed to ignore the issue I thought the thread was actually about. i.e. the availability of film.

You seem to be getting J&C and Ilford mixed up. Ilford is the one who makes and supplies the film. J&C is just one of multiple dealers who sell Ilford ULF products. Sean doesn't work for either company. It's not his job to answer questions about their product availability. Ilford has a representative who regularly participates in this forum. If there are questions about the Ilford special order film program, it should be the Ilford rep who answers them. Bashing J&C and posting unfounded, baseless speculation about their financial situation does nothing to help the original poster.

J&C gave ample warning they were going to be closed, even had a stock clearance sale. Due to unforeseen circumstances the re-opening is delayed. A few folks may have been caught in the middle and this is unfortunate but from what I can see J&C is doing everything they can to make things right by refunding and re-directing etc. Sure I feel bad for those who have been inconvenienced but it's nothing I have control over. J&C has been one of the biggest supporters of APUG and not to mention traditional photography, even now being closed for up to 6 months they are still maintaining their partner status with Ilford, Calumet and Elevator to help us offset our high server costs. You have 3 posts on apug all going after a company in the U.S., an anonymous email address, and you are in Spain or using an anonymous proxy in Spain, either way I and others here find your behavior suspicious..

ULF : A Reply From ILFORD Photo

Dear ILFORD ULF customers,

Firstly, may I sincerely apologise for the delay in replying to you all.

There has obviously been a lot of unnecessary confusion, I am pleased to confirm that all our ULF partners will receive a communication from our US distributor Wynit by Monday January 22nd. Once our ULF partners have received that communication, we will give the required details and information on how to participate in this ULF make, to all at APUG, on this forum.

We apologise for this delay :

Simon,

Earlier I had asked a question about what the minimum order qty would need to be to ensure that a particular size would be fulfilled. This was directed primarily at 7x11 which did not occur last go around.

I had also asked to see if 4x10 can be added as a sku so that this size could be order etc...

I don't believe, unless I missed it on the thread, that this was answered. I have placed an order for 7x11's... eager to do so for 4x10...

Thanks in advance...

Simon,

I would like to order FP4+ in 4x10... I was told there is no sku or item number in order for me to place an order. Can you help on this? Does my retailer just contact the distributor and make the request without a part number???

Thanks in advance!
Steve

I need to wait until January 22nd before I can give all the required information

Regards

Simon.

Simon,

Any update? When is the deadline for placing orders? What sizes are available? What dealers are participating?

I hate to seem like a pest, but an update, any udate, on the status of current Ilford ULF special order program would be appreciated.

There was suppoed to be some announcement made on/after the 22nd, but the only thing I can find online is the following on Dead Link Removedweb site:

"Please read before ordering!
Ilford makes odd and larger film sizes available twice a year. Place your order with us by January 25, 2006 and we will have the film ready to ship about the end of April. There is no minimum order, but you do need make payment with the order and the order can not be cancelled unless Ilford does not get enough orders to make this size. Your credit card will be charged when we receive your order. Of course, if Ilford doesn't make a run in this size your deposit will be refunded."

Well, tomorrow is the 25th. Is that really the deadline? If so, this round of the Ilford ULF secial order program has been much less publicized than last years. If tomorrow really is the deadline, I think a lot of people are going to miss out this time around for lack of information/knowledge about the program.

BTW, I'm not trying to come across as anti-Ilford here. Quite the opposite. I want this program to succeed, but unless someone gets the word out about it, I'm afraid it won't be nearly as successful as last year's program.

Thanks,
Kerry

I'll say it again, a little communication goes a long way. And frankly communication has been about as hard to find this time as the Ilford film itself.

Simon, we thought you penciled us in for the 22nd. What's going on?

My Ilford rep called me yesterday (Jan. 24) and said basicly they're just getting together a list of participating dealers. They would be supplying the dealers with a price list and a list of size choices but were still working on it.
I think it's just taking longer than they thought.

Dear All,

Rob is correct, it has taken a little longer than expected, plus we are trying to see if we could expand the options on film sizes, our US people should get back to me today and I will post again this evening before I leave work
