Ilford film in JCH case

I just ordered Ilford film bundle plus JCH case from macodirect. You get JCH case that contains 5 film rolls, nice to keep your films in bag in one place. And it is nice that you get 5 different ilford films inside (fp4, hp5, delta 100, delta 400 and delta 3200).

Anybody else uses JCH cases ?

I bought some cases (not bundles), but haven't had a chance to use them yet. You can buy them (just the cases) in the photo stores here now, even though the film selections seem to be getting smaller.

I have no idea what JHC means. The Rollfilm version I got for free from Fuji in the 90s.

At least for type 135 I use the PE cannisters the manufacturers typically use.

I use JCH cases for 120 film but I'm not very comfortable with them. I do not want to remove the wrapping paper until the moment I load the film into the camera and with just two rolls inside, the case doesn't close properly, tending to get open inside the bag. I have to secure it with a rubber band.

Hopefully for 35mm is better. I will let you know when I get it .

The "JCH" cases for 135 cassettes are copies of the Fujifilm product which was discontinued years ago. I have used a couple of the Fujifilm version for many years (a decade or so, they don't break) and they are very useful for keeping a lot of film cassettes under control inside one's walkabout bag. The lids are so well fitting that they are dustproof. I have not seen the "JCH" copies or the 120 size cases, but if they are as well produced as the old ones then they could be useful.

I have one of the Fuji 35mm cases, double row. Very nice product, I use it for travel. For day to day shooting within the city, I don't need more than 2-3 rolls of 35mm so I don't carry it.

Case is here. It is nice and handy - but I see that there is a risk that will open itself in the bag, I will just use the Ilford paper (reinforced with some tape) as a extra precautions.

I remember buying two of those cases for $1 a piece. I gave them away since I never used them.

I still do not see the benefit from this case over the standard PE cannisters, except that this box puts the films in row.

With some adhesive tape you can form a row with those cannisters too, even with those cannisters with a flange at one end.

A rubber band works, too. I just ordered a generic 120 case on ebay, and it comes with a wide black band to keep it shut.

Only one: It is smaller. Since I don't use photo bag, but some standard leather bag for all my stuff (keys, paper notebook, pencils, camera and films), and it is not very big - this case fits my need perfectly.

I have JCH cases in 135 & 120. The Ilford HP5+ wrapper is a little buldgy and makes the case harder to close, but I have no issues with a case of Portra 400 in 120 or with either of my 135 cases. I think the cases are great because they keep my bag more organized. There's nothing worse than trying to find unspent film in a bag ful of spent film! (Hyperbole, anyone?)

Just ask, or use the colors she doesnt like. I had to buy my own, I bought neon colors.

Darko and other users: Can you put the films inside with their individual outer canisters? It's quite sunny and hot here (reaching about 35 C). So I need to be very careful with polyester based films (Retro 80s, RPX 25).

What about 120 one?

The 35mm cases will not hold film in their own plastic canisters. I store my 120 with the wrappers on in the JCH case, thin foil Kodak and old thick foil/plastic alike! I had a roll of very expired VPS get affected my being unwrapped. The top and bottom of the film was wacko so I avoid any unwrapped film when buying old film and keep mine wrapped up.

I have several of the JCH cases, both 35mm and 120. They make it much easier to carry large amounts of film in my bag or in the pockets of my photo vest. I do wish the 120 ones were big enough to leave the wrapper on the film, though.
