That's just the thing Sarah no one will buy a single roll of film from any online store.
I understand your postage is free (and it takes a while to get the goods)
Most of us here will probably order 10+ films and at £1 per film more expensive (Delta 400) you only need to buy 4 rolls for the postage and product to be cheaper.

Not a criticism as such, just pointing out if I'm buying £25.00 worth of film the differential shrinks and film enthusiasts buy more than just the odd roll.
I'd wager that 7 Day shop get a lot of one roll of this and one roll of that type orders, charging postage, posting within 48hrs and being price competitive would see larger monetary value orders.

Well at least we have had a response on APUG and the problems seem to be what I speculated on, namely a major breakdown in the 7dayshop/ Ilford relationship that goes to the whole range including paper. A great pity.

If Sarah is right about the European e-bay seller then this is the classic grey imports phenomenon. There was a time in another industry when it was cheaper for U.K. retailers to buy from European retailers than buy direct from the manufacturers. Only when the retailers threatened to set up their own buying process, cutting out the manufacturer, did sense prevail.

I doubt if 7dayshop on its own is in a position to do this but it must create friction when to sell in Europe the manufacturer is prepared to sell at a price which enables the European e-bay reseller to sell back to the U.K. at prices which a U.K. retailer( Yes I know this is strictly speaking the Channel Islands) can't allegedly compete with. Bear in mind that 7dayshop has overheads that the e-bay seller may not.

I suspect that 7dayshop might still be able to compete but it is so annoyed at the change to its terms of trade that it is prepared to abandon a complete line of goods. If I had bought at X price and sold at Y for a reasonable profit and was then told the price was X+ for reasons I couldn't see were justified on a commercial basis, thus cutting my profit, I might be annoyed enough to do the same.

One thing is sure. Losing another supplier of analogue products which services the U.K. is not going to work in our, the U.K. customers' favour

Sarah - thanks for coming along and commenting. Seems a shame to see you reducing your lines, but its good to see your still going to sell Fuji and Kodak. (Personally I tend to use TMax unless I've got well priced Ilford)
I've certainly order 2-3 rolls on many occasions from yourselves.

Matt at AG is a really nice guy (I pick up in person as I live close enough to the offices he works from). I suspect ilford stocks I want will come from there.

Mark Antony - I've got 4 or 5 rolls of Delta 3200 in 120, expired 2008. Your welcome to them for a couple quid a roll. I've not used Delta 3200 in 120 before, and from the first roll I think I prefer the look of HP5 @ 1600

Who are AG, or,alternatively who offers the best prices for HP5,Delta T-max 400 or any decent 400asa b+w film?
7 dayshop offer 10 rolls of HP5 @ £4.39 per 36exp. roll. Any better ones out there?

There might be one best price seller for one type of film but even here seller A has the best price for 1 film but seller B beats him if you buy a pack of 5 or 10. If you buy several different films then it is a question of taking an "on balance" view. If you try to buy from several different sellers to get the best price at each then in my experience the extra postage and packing at say 3 different retailers compared to 1 will outweigh the savings.

If you are a HP5+ specialist then check out AgPhotographic. It may be cheaper and will probably deliver the film quicker than 7Dayshop but the latter will deliver free so that needs to be taken into account

You really have to do your own research and then periodically re-test the market for prices

Mathers of Lancashire have HP5 at £4.40, you have to pay postage but it's next day and you don't need to buy ten to get that price.
