I have just noticed your message, and I would like to thank you.

Regarding Forte, i understand "More funnd will be welcome, but it's an APUG initiative".

Exactly, so feel free to make an announcement and open a bank account by name (APUG) ?, for volantary donations. .

It's up to you as Forte lover to organize this and with the risk you have to make a lot of work for registration and eventually transfer back all donations in case Forte is liquidated or is going into a bank rupt case.

I will personally bring you as one of the first the good/bad message by the end of this week, let's say next week Sunday.

Have a nice week end.

I am sure other companies would like to see Forte gone away because they are able to fill in their market share in the falling business

I hope to be very clear in this statement.

Best regards, cordialement,

Robert
I very much doubt any competitors are cheering the demise of Forte because the implications, combined with the closure of Agfaphoto, are that there is not enough market to support more than a couple of producers. This is not a situation to gladden the heart of any company that wishes to be in the business in the long term.

I suspect that the other existing companies take a rather more sophisticated view of the situation than that, and would much rather have a reasonable slice of a vibrant market than a larger slice of a diminishing one. Additionally, they will be aware that the more suppliers there are, the greater the combined reach they all have to the consumer and the more comfort the consumer has in traditional photography still being there in ten years time: an important consideration in keeping the faithful away from the evil temptations of the binary...

Good luck with your efforts!

Cheers, Bob.

Now to get this thread back on topic. Its almost the middle of February. I wonder if Simon and group at Ilford have had any discussion on Delta 25 yet?

Thanks for that information, Robert. Is there a way to recognize the old vs. the new Rollei Pan (numbers, expiration dates?). I am just testing the Rollei Pan 25 for different developments (zone system) and would like to know which one I am testing...

You can take contact with the producer Filmotec or Rollei/Maco in Germany. They are able to tell you exactly the batchnumbers of the (very small) change. Without densitometer you will not notice it.

Thanks, Robert, I will contact them. And I do use a densitometer (actually the old Hauck Pentalux enlarging meter in its densitometer function, calibrated with a Stouffer step tablet)

It takes time with all of the sheet film preparations to be made.

Simon- February is almost over. Has Ilford made any decision on this film yet?

I would not expect to see a Delta 25 product. The market for slow films for pictorial use is very small, and there are at least two regular ASA 25 speed b/w films currently available from other manufacturers.

On top of that, there are solutions based on "document" type film to be used with a special developer.

You know, now I think about it...

But I think the Delta 25 would be awfully awfully cool if it had an SFX-like extended red range.

I'm sure that the people who have yet to get over losing Tech Pan would love that.

Hey, I'm in Vegas visiting family, not sure if I'll make it over to PMA, but if I do, I'll see if I can scoop Simon Galley with Ilford news.
