Is there any reason that the Ilford D&P service takes so long to turn around films.

I'd much rather use HP5 and send it to away, than XP2 and taking it to Tesco, but find I don't use it very often, as it takes about 2 weeks from popping the film in the post, to the prints dropping on my doormat.

If this could be reduced to a week, then it would be much more useful. Is this just because of capcaity, or is there some other reason it takes this long?

Dear Geoff,

We are aware that the current service time is not ideal, we would like to turn it around in a week, but that is just not possible at the present.

Please be assured we are aware of this issue and I will update you personally
when we are able to meet your requirements.

Hi there,

I just thought I'd drag this old thread back up, just to say a massive thanks to Simon, and the people at Ilford for the new and impoved D&P service. It really is very good, and very quick. It's been just 6 working days from me putting the film in the postbox, to recieving the prints in my letterbox, and the quality is fantastic.

I don't know of any organisation that listens to it's customers like Ilford do, thanks again guys.

Geoff, thanks for the update. I have had good and bad experance with the old Ilford D&P, so its good to here good news about the new service. The're the only D&P who provide a decent box for negs and prints.
 
First time I came across this was in a Boots branch in Northampton. The whole package including processing seemed very reasonably priced. If it's a 6 day turn around now this is even better, especially when for most who can't do their own printing, the alternative is a mini-lab which can only print on colour RA4 paper.

Dear Geoff,

Thanks for the positive feedback, its all now done in house at Mobberley, we should turn around any film in 3days.....we have the strictest QC possible, and the quality is excellent....we are really happy.
