ILFOMAR : when did they stop making it?

I was given a half-full box of Ilfomar, which is marked "64 B 83 01", and I'm surprised after my first tests. I used it to contact print a pinhole negative, and I got a nice image...

Even if my paper expired 30 years ago, this seems quite a long time, provided it was not stored on a proper place (it stayed in the closet of some club for years)

It was dropped in the late1970's but WT papers of that era had cadmium in the emulsion which gave them far better longevity. Most compaies stopped using Cadmium in the 80's but laxer US laws meant Kodak made Ektalure with Cadmium for much longer.

Given that I can spare the internal organs, but can't afford postage for affordable paper from the U.S. (it's NOT affordable here even before P&H), maybe we could work something out?

I'm fairly certain I made some such offer to Mr. Galley a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, the fine print on the deal read: "Female Australian Body Parts Accepted.... provided they arrive still attached to a living, breathing Kylie Minogue."

Attempts to reproduce the results of papers such as Ilfomar without using various heavy metals such as cadmium have not been successful. So this paper has gone the way of the dodo.

Having used Ilfomar I think the current Ilford Warmtone FB is much nicer, a far better paper, Bob might disagree but I hated Ilfomar.
