Simple question, not always an easy answer. I often ponder this as I browse eBay and the like. What would you set yourself up with and why ?

Photography related of course !

For me the answer is easy. I need nothing more than I already have.

Like Brian I'm lucky enough to have all the user gear that I need...maybe a 10x8 Deardorf... As a part time collector a nice Alpa 6C outfit would fit nicely.

I'd buy some materials I've never tried, like Brovira paper just to see its qualities. I would never waste my money on materials like that now due to high prices these things often get up to and possibility of it being fogged, etc. HIE and EIR film comes to mind too. Stuff like that, nothing fancy, just more inquisitive materials to experiment and learn about. But I'm fine now not splurging on things like this...

I have more cameras than I know what to do with already, but if I could go spurge on anything, I'd buy a Ritter 7x17

There's nothing I really need. If I had money to spare, I'd pay someone to help around the house and with my little one so I could have more than two days a week to do photography ('cause those two days frequently get eaten up with non-photo things that are easier to do without Nate here).
And an 8x10 field camera (without more time to use it, there's no point in getting one now, though).

I'd probably dive into ULF, and I'd certainly stock up on some at-risk films, but I don't think I'd do anything drastic to expand the various kits I have. You know what I *really* want to be able to buy more of? TIME!

If money was no object , I would go to philosophy and art history , optics , glass blowing schools in Italy and Germany. I would spend my money in to them and see what happens to my photographs 15 years later.

Without getting flamed too bad, here, on an analog site...
maybe a drum scanner and an Epson 38xx series printer.
Alas...champagne & caviar wishes...on a beer & pretzels budget!

There's not much of anything I'd change. Stuff I really want, money cannot buy.

I'd buy a home with a studio/darkroom. (within walking distance from the redwoods and the beach would be nice, too.)

I'd get some high end lenses for my 8x10; a Chamonix 4x5 with a range of high end lenses; a Flextight scanner; a darkroom set up for traditional B&W and colour printing and processing as well as alternative processes, a huge freezer stuffed full of at risk films in various formats, etc

I would like an RV equipped with darkroom and small studio. Also young man to drive it.

Most im[portant, I would like to have good health with which to enjoy my equipment.
