Where would I do the best? That includes my cameras and all my darkroom equipment. I am thinking maybe KEH or B&H, but also here. I am facing a medical decision maker. Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted. Don

Selling up is sad news, but guess you have a decision to make.

Depends how motivated you are to get the absolute best price. Probably here is as good as anywhere. Selling through commercial outlets is probably easy but won't bring the most $ and breaking up into small lots on ebay probably has potential for highest return but is hassle. If its good kit, as I'm sure it is, and money isn't the prime motivator, why not contact the local colleges where photog courses are held and see if you can advertise there. I always think selling kit to someone you know is going to use it has more satisfaction.

ps. I looked in your gallery images , some of them were excellent and You have Nikon equipment if I am wrong. As you might notice , nikon cameras are the most loved ones in 35mm space and you can sell them to a good price and quick. Try to search in classifieds and look to the selling prices.
Take your cameras best pictures and put in here. There are tons of nikon will wait you at the future after you survived from the illness. I am remembering your apug name from the past but I did not see here for a long time.
Luckily you are subscriber and use that advantage. May be you buy a M3 at the future.

I think it depends how much work you are willing to put into it. I would put the crown jewels up here first. If they don't go for a fair price, off to eBay. KEH would be the easiest, but probably the lowest return.
 
Thanks Mustafa, I only have 2 Nikon F5s but all Nikon lenses too.

Definitely agree with this. eBay may look better on the surface but you have fees in their system + Paypal, so net will likely be less, plus you have to go off of the actual "Sold Listings" for price estimates versus doing a current search for what is available (i.e.: hasn't sold yet). This throws people off at first, thinking that if there are 5 up there with Buy-It-Now prices at $200, they will get $200 for theirs.

If you live in/reasonably near a larger city, you could try putting up a Craigslist post, although I don't know if it is used much in your area.

Try here first with a nice list and clear photographs. If that fails then eBay has to be the best place. The audience is massive.

Agree. Write a short description and take a few pics, and place it in the APUG classifieds. KEH, B&H, Adorama, and all the big outlets, will give you about 50% of what they will sell it for.

I checked the classifieds archive and in one month , an F5 sold for 360 dollars at APUG.

I checked the ebay , two were there , one 395 dollars , one 695 dollars , only body.

Higher the quality of photographs , higher the requested prices.

You can photograph each of your two cameras with one other

Ebay sellers were from France and Germany.
 
Sorry to learn about the reason to sell. Don't discount local markets through Kijiji, UsedOttawa and Craiglist either. I've bought and sold successfully through these channels. Some real bargains for me as a buyer but also realistic prices both as a buyer and as a seller. With good pictures posted it might work and it saves you the hassle of packaging and mailing. I might be able to help you with some darkroom items if you decide to sell.
 
Sorry... ... it's all just stuff as many have said.

If you don't have the time to mess with it... I'd say KEH...but it's all supply and demand.. and in reality there is an oversupply for "users" of this stuff.


I was eye-balling an item on e-bay that sold... then it was re-listed the same day... I inquired, they said it was a "i-phone bidder" that didn't mean to bid.
($1000 item). I smell a proxy bidder on the side to inflate the price... and if this is the case what about the second place bidder? Anyway auctions can be a PITA if you have a lot of items to move.


There are some items I am surprised that KEH even buys...... in the end they need to make their cut. Especially if they sit on items for months and years.

I think it's all been said, but to add my two cents. Ebay will bring the highest prices, but figure in 13% cost to ebay and paypal. KEH, B&H, etc. if you're in a hurry and willing to take half price. Here is a good place, if you know the price you want and willing to ship. Craigslist is good too, no fees and you can get a fair price if there are buyers in your area.
 
KEH can give you a firm quote online. Quick cash with them.

Ebay holds your money up to 21 days depending, as I just found out.

Craigslist is great, but I meet people at a coffee shop.

This forum and LFF is also quick cash, IF somebody wants it. My nice F5 is not selling here for $350 right now.

Darkroom anything can be tough.

I do see more action in buying as money seems to flowing better.

3 hours ago I sold my van on Craigslist, that I have been trying to sell for a year.

The fact that you are in Canada adds complexity when you consider KEH.

Well sometimes things go right. Sold my BMW convertible today. One less thing to worry about. And insure since I rarely drive now. Don

I was, perhaps mistakenly, under the impression that health costs in Canada were under control and that most of those costs would be absorbed by the government. Is this incorrect? This medical situation is becoming a case of 'your money or your life'. I have been trying to enroll on ObamaCare since mid-October and cannot get through the final push.

Yes, thanks Ralph! (Sadly still haven't found a transformer, but I've been away on business for a few weeks now so today is the first day back, perhaps it's time to go shopping).
