Greetings. I'm cleaning out my no longer used large format accessories. I have a lens board that measures 5-1/4" square. I remember using this on my Wisner, yet that was many years ago. The lens board has a mount for an ilex #5 shutter, so perhaps someone can use it. I would like to confirm that this is a Wisner lens board before I post it for sale. Thanks in advance.

I believe the 8x10 Wisner models use a board that size, with a 4.5" plateau on the back.
The 4x5 Wisner models use a 4" board (with a 3.5" plateau)
My sources list both as being 0.2" thick at the edges.

The Ilex #5 shutter is a big beast needing I gather a 84mm mounting hole. Would you by any chance be able to measure the overall diameter of the shutter and the thickness between the front & rear chambers? These are two values I have missing from my database (mainly pulled from on-line sources).

Thanks for the reply. I just measure the mounting hole at 86mm. I no longer have the shutter, so I am unable to measure the diameter. You are correct that this shutter is a big beast. The lens board is mostly a big mounting hole. Thanks again.

I suspected from your initial message you might no longer have the shutter.

I've recently made a lens board for my toyo monorails to fit a massive 150mm f/1.2 projector lens, so I'm familiar with boards that are all hole
I don't believe there are any conventional shutters big enough for my toy, so I'm beginning to think I'll have to use it in the dark with flash - I cant move the lens cap quick enough.

ULF Wisner is correct. I've had a 14X17 Wis that used that board.

5.25" square is a typical size for a Burke & James or Ansco 5x7 camera.

The Burke and James 5.2" board has a slightly larger island than the Wisner and has a tapered bottom edge according to SK Grimes. The dimensions are close enough that they might prove interchangeable (possibly one way only).
I don't have my main listing of lens boards to hand (the spread sheet is at work) so don't have details of the Ansco board.
I can add Wehman also use a 56.25" board - theirs has a thinner edge & a circular recess in the plateau - and there are probably others.
