hi there guys!

My name is sebastiano and i'm from Cortina (it's a small mountain town, in the dolomites, italy) i'm new in the photograph world, just a year ago i buy my first reflex (nikon d7000). It was a fantastic year, with a lot of experiment, and long studies :smile:Now i think that i know the basic level of photograph.... i was happy and glad, but yesterday coincidently i saw a topic in a italian photograph forum, it referred about the film (roll). Ok, i began to read and... at finally i read for 4 hours in a lot of website about the analog photography :D
And i fell in love with her: nikon fm2
Now i want to study about analogic... i "have" to buy a fm2, and slowly learning to develop negative (mmm i don't know if this phrase it's correct sorry) and print to myself.
But, i have to wait, because in january i'm going to go to california to improve my poor english, i'll stay there for 3 months. Maybe when i'll there... i could to look for this camera, i don't know.

I'll live in mammoth lake, perhaps somebody live in this town or near? i'd like to see a dark room, and taking photo with other person, to share the photographic passion and maybe a beer :munch:.
please contact me if you live there

I joined in this website to improve my knowledge and why not... improve my english (yestarday i read an italian forum about analog photography, but i prefered to sign here)

thanks so much everybody
and sorry for my spaghetti-english :D

Welcome, Sebastiano. You are in the right place.
California has many film users and, I'm sure, you can meet some while you are there.
Don't apologize for your English. You communicated very well.

Good luck with all your adventures. All the things you mention are not difficult, but need to be done one step at a time.

Welcome to APUG, Sebastiano. You're in the right place to learn about the technical side of photography. Unfortunately, the hard part of photography isn't the technical stuff, it's the artsy "Learning to see" side of photography that is the hard part to learn and the difficult part to teach. But there are also those here who may be able to assist with that too.

Welcome to APUG Sebastiano! I'm sure your passion for photography will transfer over to your photographs once you get a camera in hand and start printing your own work. But as others have said, it's one step at a time.

A warm welcome to APUG.

Do not worry about your English. The purpose of any language is to communicate and I understand perfectly what you wrote. Your English is therefore very good. Far better than my Italian which does not exist.

Mammoth Lakes is very beautiful. I've been there many times. It's a volcanic region with many hot springs. I think you will like it there. Good luck.

hey, thank you all a lot.
I saw that mammoth is a beautiful place, i chose it because it's like my town
And I know, i have to do one step at a time
i forgot to say: "i love b/w" and i hope that this will help me... But i'm a beginner in b/w and i still must to learn a lot... maybe with a analogic camera i understand faster and better than with digital camera, because with analogic you have to think and think before you shot... instead i shot a lot of times without to think with my d7000.

Welcome Sebastiano, to APUG and soon to the USA. Your English is completely understandable. As Ken said, much better than my Italian which doesn't exist!

Now folks, since he likes "to think and think" before shooting should we nudge him toward large format? :D

Nah, the FM2 will do just fine.

Welcome Sebastian,

No better way to learn a language then just talking about something you're passionate about, with someone who is passionate about the same thing!

Good luck!
