Well, I got it on eBay in February. It was listed as is and I got what I got for about $15. So last night I pull it out. I'm messing around with it. Seems that the crank is just jammed. It's a boat anchor anyway right? I try some past X camera fixes. I find I can crank the film while holding dwon the shutter button. I remember it would fire via cable release. Just not the button. After about ten minutes, it dawns on me. I take the camera in my hand. Crank away from my hand. I then proceed to smack onto my carpeted floor. Once, twice, a few times. After a couple minutes, the crank goes on its own and the shutter button works. Do it again. And again. And again. Man, I love how these cameras are frickin' tanks. Takes major abuse and the thing actually begins to then work properly. I love it.

We're all hoping you're not a physician or dentist...

Yeah, otherwise you would lay into it with a drill and an amputation saw.

Ever seen a surgeon (an intern wannabe in this case, thank God) fix a car? They open up the hood and start throwing things out of the engine compartment - somehow thinking that the reason the car won't run is because it has a bad part and if the part is removed then the car should be OK.

And if the computer technician can't get his car started he will get out then get back in to see if that works.

Hi Chris,

Can you come over and hit my Son ?
He doesn't do any work around the house.
Maybe I should take away his SRT-101 ...
Bring a 12pak of Sam Adams with you.

Why did you pay so much ?
I got 2 SRT's w/ lens for less than $15.00.

Thanks

Chris in this day and age I would expect to see a youtube clip attached, but given this is APUG a slide show would work.

P.S. I just sent my SRT101 to Garry for CLA etc. .... you didn't pass that trick to him did you?

When I was in the French Navy (was 2/3 years ago.) (huh, wait, no, not twenty, I can't belive it !) we had the "electronic kick" to repair the highly sensitive equipment : on those computers and displays made in the sixties, a very common repair was just this : kick it once or twice, and it should fix the loose contacts !!

Tried the same with my T90, but this is not the same beast !

That's kinda funny. I have bought several Minoltas that "didn't" work. I had an SRT 101 and 201 that were jammed up too. Didn't smack them on the floor but within a few minutes had them unstuck. In the process of cleaning and restoring them now. Got some extra parts from parts cameras if anyone needs anything.
