What has happened to Bryonmanning's post. It and whatever number it was has simply vanished. In the same way Uncle Joe airbrushed people out of photographs. Both I and Pieter12 asked questions of him which are still there with his quote but Bryon's post has vanished?

If you had reviewed all of Bryonmanning's posts before they were removed, and thought about the fact that new members are restricted from posting links until their post count reaches a certain threshold, you might say "ah hah!"

Out of bounds temps tend make certain dev ingredients behave differently in relation to other ingredients than they were intended to do around std room temp of 20C. This affects not only contrast but final image color, and esp how the different emulsions in a VC paper might come out relative to one another. Can't you set up a cooler water jacket around the dev tray, containing a cold water drip line or Blue Ice pack? Don't confuse RC specs potentially related to automated roller transport processors with how fiber based paper is going to perform in an ordinary tray.
I did think of a tray of cold water and put the developer in a metal tray. Unfortunately, I don't have one. I even thought of getting a water chiller.

Usually a picnic box style Blue Ice pack in the bigger water jacket does the trick, with a drip line slowly adding a bit of warmer water to temper it as needed. Keep some extra paks in the freezer in case of a long session.

Thanks Matt. I wasn't even aware that posting links was forbidden until the post count reaches a certain threshold. Well it would appear that it wasn't just me who failed to review all of his posts before they were removed as Pieter12 also replied to him. Frankly I had no reason to do any review. I hadn't be aware of his previous posts and as I far as I can recall there were no links attached to the post in question. I couldn't understand where he had gotten his info from but I have seen numerous posters with only a few posts make what appeared to be strange, even outrageous statements without necessarily jumping to the conclusion that they were "undesirable parties"

I think that the posting limit expires on the 5th post.
And if you had read that 5th post, you would have seen the linked ad.
I read a couple of his/her posts, thought they were strange, looked at his/her posting history and sent a note to the moderators.
I expect others did too.
That early linking strategy foils a lot of spammers.

Thanks Matt. I just hadn't picked up on any earlier posts but certainly if we can rely, as it appears we can, on his post on equipment changes at 50F as being spam behaviour rather than an innocent misunderstanding then thankfully most spammers give themselves away quite quickly as if they are not very astute
By the way our last few posts have prompted a question: Whatever happened to I think it Lowell Huff who suddenly arrived with a "helpful answer to almost any thread no matter what the subject. His solution to all of the problems was always connected to I think Clayton chemicals :D

Incidentally if you can recall the poster's name is there any way to check if that person is still a member?

Thanks

You are actually reducing the contrast in the shadow areas and also the difference between the mid tones and the Dmax, the consequence is loss of detail in the mid tone to shadow areas.

Ian
We are working with a different definition of contrast.

I did manage to find him. Last seen in 2011. Maybe the seam had been exhausted by then :D

I don't think so - Bryonmanning joined just before he posted to this thread.

Matt I was referring to Lowell Huff when I mentioned 2011 He was the person you may recall I was asking about in terms of finding if he was still about. The whole BryonManning thing just sparked a memory of Mr Huff all those years ago

On another forum of which I am a member it is possible to look at a list of names and find a person even if you can't remember the whole name but that has a much smaller membership. I was lucky in that I thought his poster mane was Lowell Huff and indeed it was
