I need a scanner for 6x7. Any tips?

Greetings from Texas. I just joined your group.

I am returning to shooting with a camera I really love, the Mamiya RB67.

I have an Epson 4490 Photo scanner and it does an incredible job of scanning my 35mm slides, BUT it didn't come with a tray to allow scanning my 6x7 film.

Can anybody advise of a scanner having a tray for scanning 6x7?

I scan 6x12s on my Epson V750 Pro with good results. I got a custom holder with anti-newton ring glass for the Epson. Worth the extra cost. Everything is flat.

The betterscanning.com film holders are nice, but your Epson 4490 should have come with a holder capable of handling film up to about 6x9cm. I do 6x6 and 6x7 on this scanner with no problems (it does a very nice job).

Without any doubt you have to buy nikon coolscan 9000 if you have the money to buy it.
If it is not the case (just like me) buy a v700 one.

I would disagree, if possible find a good dedicated scanner. I was lucky and found a Polaroid Sprint Scan 120 for about $400 and it produces excellent output at 4000 DPI

Yes, my 4490 will scan two 6x6 frames side by side, so it should certainly be able to handle 6x7. If yours doesn't have the required holder, you may be able to purchase one directly from epson. Of course you can also buy the one from better scanning, supposedly it works much better.

Also (and I hope there are no rules about posting threads from other forums) you can try something homemade like shown here:

If you're really happy with the results of scanning 35mm slides with an Epson flatbed, you probably do not need to spend the cash on a dedicated film scanner like the Nikon 9000; a flatbed will probably be ok with the Epson V7xx being a strong candidate. I am not familiar with the 4490. Some may confuse it with the 4990, a different, and I believe superior scanner.
