I need a scanner that can handle 35mm as well as medium format. I'm currently using a seven year old EpsonPerfection 1240U. I want to stick to a flatbed and I don't need anything fancy. The Epson V700 is a little more than I want to spend.
I don't produce large prints so I'm willing take the 2nd or 3rd best (last years model, etc.) I'm sure there's some opinions out there. Thanks for your help.
Keep in mind the 4490 transparency adapter can only cover something like 2-1/2 x 9, but the 4990 and V700 can both cover 8x10 so you can use them to scan negative pages for proof sheets. Refurbished V700s are sometimes available on epson.com, so I think this is your best value.
