I must have missed the memo on a Tri-X 400 price increase

There seems to be many recent threads about this.
I was lucky to buy some Tri-X from B&H in March for $6.49. It's $7.99 now (25%+). Got some HP5+ last week but as discussed in other threads, I eventually will try some of the suggested films (Arista Ultra EDU 400 and Foma)
If Kodak Alaris keeps using old Kodak's Rochester facilities prices will keep increasing. Eastman Kodak is now a pharmaceutical company and I don't know who owns the film making facilities (Eastman or Alaris) or how the business works but if they keep losing customers (as we are seeing here) perhaps we are approaching the end of Tri-X unless Alaris starts making film in Asia. Just a thought.

These days just glad I’m shooting half frame. Glad to have the extra frames on a roll and don’t print big anyway, 6x8in. on 8x10 paper. Savings partially offset by sometimes having to snip off exposed part of roll to develop right away and reload the remaining film. Lose about 4 frames that way.

That's why there are no motor drives for 11x14 view cameras.

I set up the 11x14 three times -- never exposed any sheets. Totally enjoyed myself and, saved a bunch of money and the time developing film. I did expose some 5x7, though...
Re-found a wonderful place under the redwoods on my way home -- think of the image of Wynn Bullock's daughter in the redwood sorrel (oxalis) -- that I will have to return to (the wind had picked up when I was there). Also an albino redwood, but they are not nearly as exciting visually as the name sounds. Still neat. I shall return there and expose more film this fall/winter.

10,80$ (9€) here in Germany.

Which is more than double the price of HP5+.

Paid €52 for a brick last december (yes yes, the MwSt was a bit lower back then, so now it might be a bit more)

And Delta 400, Rollei RPX 400, Retro 400S, Infrared 400, Fomapan 400 and Ultrafine Xtreme 400.

There is a small loss of sharpness in HP5+, according to critical testing, so it might be worth while to use Tri-X to make larger intended prints, and use HP5+ in 6x6cm and larger formats with medium and large prints.

Since Kodak did away with the original HC-110, I almost feel like a limb is missing.

IMO.

Kodak films, including Tri-X are wonderful, but you can easily use HP5+ and make the same prints.
