Darkrooms can be smelly but you know what? I love the smell. I even get off (slightly) on concentrated stop. Presently, there is residue of fixer on my hands from the film I just put into the wash. I am sitting here at my desk and occasionally smelling my hands. It sort of gets me off in an emotional way. Not a drug high. An emotional high. I've been doing this for almost 40 years and I still love it.

How about you?

Reminds me of an old APUG quote. "I love the smell of fixer in the morning. It reminds me of creativity." Every once in a while in my parts store I will pick up a distinct hint of Kodak Rapid Fixer. Usually means a car battery needs to be warrantied off the shelf. But, yeah, the smell is strong and sparks many memories.

Yep, in the back of my mind - although I did not realize it when I wrote my post title - was this very signature.

Thanks SG!

I am so glad you said this. I also love the smell of fixer. I just thought there was something wrong with me!
