Well, I've finally got my 5x7 setup: Burke and James 5x7 monorail, 210mm Rodenstock lens, Fidelity film holders, and tripod. I a package of D76 developer*, some Arista powder fixer, and a pack of Dektol.
Now I just need to stock up on film, paper, and toner. I know what film I'm going to use (my favorite film in 35mm): HP5+. All that's left is for me to decide on paper and toner(s). I'd like to give Fomalux 111 FB a try since it's a contact printing paper (according to Freestyle), and contact printing is going to be what I have to do until (if ever) I get a 5x7 enlarger. If anyone uses this paper, how does it look when toned by selenium and/or sepia toner?
I think I've settled on the Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner unless someone has a good reason for me not to. I'm not sure about sepia toner, though. The Legacy Pro Sepia Toner II seems promising, because it's cheap (http://www.freestylephoto.biz/745702-LegacyPro-Sepia-Toner-II-to-Make-1-Quart)
And yes, before anyone says so, I an planning on getting Tim Rudman's book on toning
*I used rodinal with 35mm because I knew I would have grain; I wanted to make sure the grain was as noticible as possible. With contact printing LF negs, grain isnt going to be a problem, so I decided "I wont be able to see the grain, anyway, so what's the point?" Bash me for using rodinal for 35mm or for changing developers for LF film. I dont care; I've already bought it.
