mark,
too bad you don't have a 35mm to putz around with before you break out the LF -
a few things i have played with that worked in a similar situation
use the D-thing on SPOT meter and just read
the bright spots, and the shadows then average and get
a starting point to bracket ...
use a handheld flash ( like a sunpack or lumedyne or norman )
or a lantern bright light with a long extension cord ... you could put your shutter on B
and burst / paint with light ... ( after you turn down the lights
)
and you can GUESS using sunny 11 as your basis ...
it ends up for me when i shoot iso 100 ( rated at 50 )
that 25-45seconds at f22 usually has me in the right ballpark
for something like a dimly lit room
sorry to hear your troubles !
good luck when you go back !
john
