I seem to have acquired 2 of these things now, and i'm still none the wiser what they are or for and it's bugging me!
I don't even know what to google to find out what they might be

look like diffusion holders that adapt for different lens.

Filter holders, adjustable to fit on various diameters of lens mount ? Maybe for enlargers or technical cameras, rather than more general use ?

Filter adapter/holders, squeeze to open & release to close..

Agreed that it looks like some sort of diffuser.
If you don't have a photographic junk drawer, it may be a good time to start one.
Who knows? You might need these someday.

I say that about every item I carry home.

But that means that a drawer rapidly is not sufficient any more...

Leg-hold traps for small photographers.

I've got a 1500 sq ft shop building, it took me 18 years but it's full now and I need to have another one built.

Filter holder that belongs to a Philips/Paterson PCA 060/061 colour analyser.

This has made me giggle

Ahhhh this would appear to the the answer! Would be explained by also having 2 Philips PCA 2060 colour analysers that i also have zero idea how to use

Philips colour enlargers work on the additive principle. Manuals are on the net, might serve you with your very one too.

I've been looking for a manual, but unless i want to pay more for it than i did for the whole job jot of darkroom kit i cant find anything!
Anyone got one they wouldn't mind sending me a scan of, would be very appreciated

Send me one, I'll learn how to use it and post instructions.

Come on, guys. Don't you know bear traps when you see them? One for the left foot and one for the right. Obviously missing the anchor chains. Did the seller not mention the missing parts?

Guys, guys, guys.

You are all wrong.

Obviously they are miniature spy cameras used by CIA agents in the 50's!

The film is 2mm wide and is coiled in a tapeworm fashion inside the outer ring.

Squeeze the legs together to release the shutter. The lens is in the left leg so you have to be clever about this.

Who would have thought to disguise miniature cameras as filter holders! They were so clever!

Diffusers for color analysers is correct, the one on the left missing it's "integrator".
