Okay, here's my score! I've been kicking myself in the a$$ for over 20 years for not buying the 8x10 Deardorff, Saltzman tripod, and 12" Ektar from a photographer I worked with. Finally! I found someone upgrading to digital and I got the following

Cambo SC 4x5 in a box
210mm Computar Symetrigon
90mm orbit in recessed board
4 or 5 sheet film holders
4x5 polaroid back
another back that has "super combo" or something like that 9x12.
dark cloth
frame for dark cloth

Perfect cause I was thinking "I'd love to get a roll film 9x12 for the sucker"
And I have a thread regarding 90mm lenses. I didn't even know the camera came with a 90mm lens.

Okay, can someone tell me more about the 210mm and the 90mm orbit?

I'm sitting downtown on the boardwalk right now...
I was hoping to score too, but, hey, I'll take a camera if worse comes to worse..

Good luck and good light.

Jeez, when I saw the thread title - I thought it was a Marko post! :D

Congrats on the new gear.

But remember, the seller did not "upgrade" to digital - he has chosen to go down a dark passage to eternal damnation (or something even nastier)!

"Going Digital" kind of like lemmings "going over a cliff"

Still, in 10-20 years, all the stuff this guy dumped, will have held its value and will still be making great pictures, and the person who "went digital" will have gone through 6-10 digicams to the tune of $20k+ I am sure.

If you really *must* go digital, you can always buy a good film scanner.

Eric,

Congrats and good fun with it all.

"Okay, can someone tell me more about the 210mm and the 90mm orbit?"

The Computar Symetrigon 210/6.3 will just cover 8x10 so I don't think you could run out of movements on 4x5. They are perfectly color corrected and seriously sharp. Very nice lens.

The Orbit 90 may be a re-badged Ilex, if so another great lens.

Lucky you.

Digital SLRs make /great/ lightmeters ! :D I use mine for that purpose since I upgraded to... film :D

Usually kind of heavy and expensive! My D100 got too heavy so I ended up getting an (analog) Sekonic 208 for <$100. :D I can attach it to the hotshoe!

I am trying to help you but having difficulty. Are you sure the 90mm is an Orbit lens? I can not find it listed anywhere in the several long lists of lenses I have. Perhaps "Orbit" is on it somewhere because it was originally on an Orbit camera.
Read the info engraved in the retaining ring of the front element. Perhaps there is a better description there.

I think the Symmetrigon is a very good 'tessar' type but not sure. I tried one on 8X10 at infinity and it vignettes but should be very nice on 4X5. Congrats. The 90mm Orbit is an f8 Schneider Super Angulon! They were marketed by Burke & James at the same time that Calumet was doing the Caltar SII which was also a Schneider. Nice outfit there.

The searches on the Symmetrigon are varied and you know...everything you read on the Innernet is true right? I guess I'll need to attach it to an 8x10 to really know. The 90mm Orbit is what I've read about it on the web. Not much info, but LOTS of the photographs of the Schneider Super Angulon look exactly like my 90mm Orbit so I'm going to force myself to think that I have a Schneider

Not a bad outfit for 2 Sawbucks.

Now I need a heavy tripod.....and film! (and a 135mm enlarging lens won't be so bad)
