Four years ago, I didn't even own a camera other than a cheap Sony digital P&S. Now I have two Leica M bodies (and four lenses), a Nikon FM (and a couple of lenses) and a Hasseblad 500C/M (and a couple of lenses). So, clearly, I have no need for another camera . But I stumbled upon this one today and it's so darn pretty I'm tempted. Hard to say 'no' given how cheap these things are now.

Somebody help me...

Logan, I am a gearhead too, but in this case I don't quite understand the point of owning two versions of the same concept: a manual 35mm SLR. I would have sold one of your Leicas too and look for a TLR to add to your collection. Basically, I wanted to have one of each for:
  • 35mm RF
  • 35mm SLR + two lenses
  • MF TLR
  • MF SLR + two lenses
  • MF RF
In other words, look for a Rolleiflex!

That's probably because it doesn't make any sense Just like it doesn't make much sense that I want to add an M3 to my 'collection' of Leica cameras (M-A and M4).

You already have an M-A, arguably the best manual Leica, so
a) congrats
b) you're right, it doesn't make sense

This camera is a very strange combination of being very plentiful in good condition, being a great camera AND being very inexpensive.

I have a friend who can't stop buying them; he's addicted. (No, it's not me, I stopped at 4)

I beg to differ. I have (for example) two Nikon F2 - one silver and one black . I carry them both with one set of lenses that they can (obviously) share. This allows me to...
1) load one with color (the silver one) and one with B&W (the black one) or,
2) load both with the same film and mount the 28mm lens on one and the 50mm (or 50mm and 105mm) on the other.

When traveling this is very handy and I find it comforting, if not entirely necessary, to have a ready backup.

One can cheat by saying that two Leicas or F-cameras are really just one, as they are nothing but shutter-equipped film backs that are part of a single modular camera system.

Logan, you must buy this film back!

Don't do it. It's not going to improve your photography one itoa and represents exactly zero increase in technical capability over the world-class (and pretty enough) cameras you already own. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, go buy film. Better yet to grab a camera you already have, and take a walk. Advice from a thoroughly average shooter who's still selling off the lingering detritus from a decade-ago attack of literally marriage-threatening GAS. Only possible exception: if it's under $30 and you know a young person interested in analog photography, buy it, test it, and gift it.
