...from d76 to rodinal. i have been using it 1:200 for 2 hours for all my films and i love it! I only stand dev because i love the:
Tonality
Small grain but nice grain in hp5 and tri-x
lasts forever(2.5 ML per film)
Edge Effects.
Have any of you changed from 1 fidev to another? Take the poll!

No, I haven't changed - there is a tool for every job. Rodinal handles the bulk of my "work", there is always some D76 on hand for when I need it and Acufine and perceptol for their special qualities. Then again, many people use one developer with better results than I could hope for with 5:smile:

I changed to a more simplified approach.

I haven't used D-76 since I got it pre-mixed in high school and college. I do use Parodinal (homemade Rodinal clone from acetaminophen) for some things, but it won't replace HC-110, just live alongside it.

None of the Above is my answer as well.
I *usually* use Rodinal. At times, for whatever - or no - reason, I'll use another. I am not "nailed down" to many things in photography... or life.

I try to stay loose... and flexible.

Yep, I changed from Rodinal to FG7 to D76 to Rodinal. Know what? They all do a great job. I could be happy with any of them.

(Of course, I've also changed from Nikon to Canon to Leica to Canon to Leica/Canon. And from Kodak to Ilford and color to black and white and....)

I used HC-110 with Tri-X and TMX for a dozen years or more, then discovered PMK. PMK has been my workhorse for the past 5 or 6 years. I'm now experimenting with Pyrocat-HD and Rodinal because of their versatility in reduced-agitation development, but PMK will remain in the arsenal.

i've changed many times.
some developers are good for some things, and others are better for other things. its best to have an open mind.

I'm still too new to developing to say...

I started with Rodinal and, for better or worse, have been flitting back and forth trying to get a feel for what I like and don't...

Lately, I've been likeing the look of Perceptol...

BUT...

I always seem to come back to Rodinal.

Oh! is this a Rodinal Poll, I thought it was a lifes changes Poll?

Oh! Yea! I like Rodinal, but I also like the Pyrocat HD.

I have changed back to the original change position, whatever that was.

I started out using D76, then Ilford ID11, then Rodinal, then FA-1027, and finally Pyrocat-HD. Rodinal, FA-1027, and Pyrocat-HD all give (to me) wholly satisfying results. I use the Pyrocat-HD because it suits my purposes and films very, very well. If I can keep on using it, I will probably not change again. I have tephlon memory, nothing sticks, and remembering development times for the three films I use plus an ocean of different developers just doesn't work. Who said write it down? Doesn't work either, because I forget where I put the note.

So yes, I did change, way too many times. Not likely to change again any time soon.

Started with Microdol, meandered about a bit, and then settled on Rodinal (or R09), Diafine, and occasionally HC-110. But a large part of that was initially driven by the convenience of using developers with long shelf lives, as my darkroom work can be a bit sporadic.
