So small can barely spot them. Any such thing as "magnified" grain-focuser?
Anyone with similar issue?

I've had that problem over the years with fine-grain film, even though I use a good focuser.

Just use a clearly-defined edge in the subject.

I just recently tried Ektar 100. OMG, the grain is so hard to find it's hard to focus. Eventually I find something to focus on but it's not easy.

Yeah been there.

Focus on some sharp content detail.

You aren't saying what you use now for comparison....

When I run into the same problem, I look for a part of the image with a contrasty edge and use that.

As far as grain magnifiers go, the Microsight has 25x magnification. I also have a Micromega which is similar to the current Peak/Omega or whoever is making them now. That is a good one as well.

The other way you could go is to get something with less magnification like a Magnasight. With less magnification and a larger field, you are focusing more on the image than the grain. if you are making smaller prints with fine grain negs, you may find that to be more comfortable.

Hope that helps you.

I wonder what the Paterson grain magnifier's magnification is? I always seem to be able to find grain with it, even with PanF but this was 35mm not 120.
